Meet Craig Meredith, co-founder with his wife Chera of the game company So Peculiar. Meredith developed a love for how God uses stories when he first read Jurassic Park in fourth grade; however, shortly afterwards, he was put on the path towards becoming an attorney.
From Courtroom to Code
Meredith put his passion for story aside to devote himself to the serious task of preparing for, and eventually being, a lawyer. In this process, he spent tens of thousands of hours writing tens of millions of words, most of them dry and dull — and if they were especially effective — lulling people to sleep.
Then, a friend gave Meredith a copy of The Lord of the Rings. There, at Bilbo’s eleventy-first birthday party, God fanned the flames of creativity, first discovered on Isla Nublar, to inspire Meredith’s love for good stories. Ever since, he’s been making games with his wonderful and witty wife and writing stories — and, of course, writing bug jokes for Bug & Seek.
Building So Peculiar
Craig and Chera founded So Peculiar in 2017 out of East Tennessee. It’s a true husband-and-wife operation: Craig handles the writing, pixel art, and business development, while Chera — who spent seven years teaching herself game design and coding — leads the technical side as a full-time indie developer.
Their debut title, Bug & Seek, launched on Steam in December 2023, followed by Nintendo Switch and mobile releases. With over 250 real bugs to discover, a charming mystery to solve, and a Kickstarter community behind them, it’s a testament to what happens when you follow where God leads — even when the path goes from the courtroom to a pixel art bug museum.

Their next project, Closer Than You Know, is currently in development.
