Scott always had an affinity for creating challenging puzzles. Coupled with his programming prowess, he co-founded a video game publishing company known as Adventure International in 1978.

Pioneer of Interactive Fiction

Adventure International had great success, releasing text adventures and bringing computer gaming into the home with titles such as Adventureland — widely considered one of the first commercial video games ever made — and the Marvel Questprobe series, which put players in control of Spider-Man, the Hulk, and other Marvel heroes years before the MCU was a glimmer in anyone’s eye.

In the mid-1980s, the video game industry crashed. Console systems had flooded the market, consumer confidence collapsed, and Adventure International went down with the industry in 1985. Adams moved on to software engineering, stepping away from games — but only for a season.

Faith, Family, and a Return to Games

Embracing his strong Christian faith with his wife Roxanne, Scott created The Inheritance in 2015 — his first game in decades. Then, hoping to make more family-friendly and uplifting games, Clopas LLC was founded in July 2016.

While attending CGDC in 2017, the Adams met Chris Skaggs and partnered with Soma Games to create The Lost Legends of Redwall: Escape the Gloomer — a game based on Brian Jacques’ beloved book series that perfectly aligned with their mission of creating wholesome, story-driven games rooted in faith.
