Meet Alex Lehmann, a seasoned game developer from the scenic state of Colorado, where he resides in a lively household that includes his family, one dog, three cats, three steers, and eight chickens. His days are fueled by three passions: his faith in Jesus, his family, and his enduring love for video games.

From Film to Games

Lehmann’s creative career began in Hollywood, where he worked as a Character Animator at Sony Pictures Imageworks on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. But the pull of interactive entertainment was strong, and he soon transitioned to games — starting as a freelance animator contracting with a then-small studio called Riot Games.

That freelance gig turned into a 15-year career at Riot. Along the way, Lehmann helped create beloved League of Legends characters including Garen, Lux, Draven, and Poro, and art directed the in-game experience for Legends of Runeterra. He rose from Senior Animator to Art Director to Head of Creative, eventually overseeing more than 700 artists across multiple games, projects, and R&D initiatives.

Faith in the Industry

Lehmann now leads Creative Initiatives & Strategy at Riot, focusing on pushing the boundaries of gaming innovation. But what sets him apart in the industry is his openness about faith. He’s been a guest on the Gamechurch Podcast and has spoken at Realm Makers, connecting with other Christians in gaming and creative media.

He cares deeply for the next generation of game creators who see potential to share their faith through interactive entertainment — and he’s using his platform at one of gaming’s biggest companies to champion that vision.
